Masters win twelve medals at National Indoors

The rescheduled National Masters Indoors Track & Field Championships took place at Athlone AIT Arena (Saturday March 10). It’s a busy all day timetable with exciting and keen competition and a great experience.

We had nine masters competing in five different age categories. They competed in twenty-three  events – on track and field and came home with a wonderful total haul of twelve individual medals.

Once again Mags Glavey and Pauline Moran spearheaded this success with three golds each – a fantastic achievement. Colette Tuohy added two silver to her collection  and all three added to their national cross country achievements. Ann Murray won bronze and in the field events Martin Peyton and Patrick Moran (2) won bronze. Congratulations to all our medal winners and well done to all our competitors.
Here’s how each fared:
Martin Peyton M65: won bronze in shot , 4th weight for distance, 4th long jump, 5th 60 metres
Mags Glavey W65: won three golds in 800, 3000, 1500
Ann Murray W50: 4th 800, bronze in 3000, 4th in 1500
Stephen Skillington M50: 6th in 3000, 8th 1500
Pauline Moran W60: won three golds: 800, 3000, 1500
Colette Tuohy W45: won two silvers : 3000, 1500
Ronnie Naylor M60: 5th in 800 metres
Cormac Kearney M40: 7th in 60 metres
Patrick Moran M60: shot bronze, high jump bronze, long jump 4th , 60 metres 4th
