Medals at Masters T&F + Gaelforce results

We had four particpants in the National Masters Track & Field Championships, Tullamore Sat 17th August. Pauline Moran ran three races and won three medals: bronze 800 metres, gold in 1500 and silver 3,000 in her W55 category. It looks almost certain that Louisburgh based Pauline will get a silver at the recent National Half Marathon when the current confusion over results is resolved. The range of distances she runs is formidable and her determination to achieve is an example to all. Geesala native, Seamus Gaughan won a silver in the M60 5,000 metres. He is still recovering from his efforts at WPFG where he won 4 medals two weeks ago. His great rival Pat O’Shea who also competed in WPFG, won the Tullamore race, but was much fresher as unlike Seamus he did not run two 10ks in Belfast. Ann Murray from Foxford is a regular competitor at the outdoors and she won two bronze medals in 200, 400 metres. Good too to  see Ronnie Naylor from Ballina win a bronze in the 800 metres M55 category. Congratulations to them all.

In the Gaelforce West, also on Saturday Brendan Gill was our top finisher in 21st place in 4hrs:10:49 (winner 3hrs:31:01). PJ Hall M55 is a Gaelforce regular and he finished in 4:52:37. There were 1407 finishers – last one in 9hrs 40mins..a long day. In the MarlayParkrun 5k Paula Prendergast finished 2nd woman in another fast time 19:02.
