Mags and Pauline lead the way in Autumn Cross Country trial

Mags Glavey and Pauline Moran enjoyed sunshine and success at Abbotstown

Two of our top masters women athletes  represented the club in today’s Open Autumn Cross Country at the National Sports Centre in Abbotstown, Co Dublin.

Pauline Moran and Mags Glavey have been regular and successful competitors at this event for many years. The Open Autumn races serve as a trial for Irish team selection ahead of next month’s annual British and Irish Masters Cross Country Championships.

Racing conditions at Abbotstown were excellent – wall to wall sunshine and no wind.

All women – senior, junior, and masters – plus over 65 men ran in the first adult race with 136 finishers. They completed either three (junior and master women over 65) or four laps.

Pauline (W60) ran four laps approximately 6k finishing first in her category in 26:29. Mags (W65) ran three laps 4.5k and also came home first in 21.29.

That’s great running by both and they will be in the Irish team competing in Southport next month – congratulations!

Pauline and Mags have worn the Irish vest with distinction and great success at the British and Irish Masters International event in recent years.

Thanks to Caitriona Moran for photo.
