John takes GOLD in Connacht Indoors

The Connacht Indoor Championships 2011 took place last weekend 5th\6th March in Nenagh. John Walkin won the Senior Men’s 60m sprint on Saturday. John was thrilled with his performance winning in 7.73 sec, (60m was won the previous year in 7.80sec).   The win was all the more sweet for John as he came into the weekend with a slight hamstring injury from a recent run in Belfast

John capped off a fine weekend by later taking 3rd in the 200m.

From a club of mostly endurance athletes it is with great please that we congratulate John on his fine performances representing Mayo AC in the sprints.
