The Irish Runner virtual 5k was completed recently June 8-14. it formed part of their virtual race series – https://www.athleticsireland.ie/runzone/raceseries/

Well done to Colette Tuohy who finished 9th woman in the 5k.

Her time was 19.15. She ran a course from her Castlebar base – out the Pontoon Road, back in on Turlough Road with a loop around the Town Park to finish. The first woman was Ciara Wilson DMP AC 16:15.

In the Irish Runner virtual 5 mile which finished at midnight June 5 Colette ran an excellent 32:19 to be placed 3rd woman. She ran an out and back course on the Greenway.  Mary Steed was first in 32:03.

“For athletics clubs nationwide as well as contributing to their county’s mileage there is €1,000 in total, on offer for the fastest 4×1 mile relay, male and female. Athletics Clubs could also be in with a chance to win part of a €2,000 bursary, with €500 on offer per province. ”

The event is scheduled to be completed between August 17-23.

Free to enter – runners simply need to find a flat bit of ground, run their virtual mile, and submit their race online with proof of time and distance.
