Intersport Elverys Mayo AC Series Ballinrobe 5k results

The Mayo AC tribe at Ballinrobe
The third race in Intersport Elverys Mayo AC 5k Series took place at Ballinrobe this Tuesday evening (May 23).
Racing conditions were good: calm, warm, and sunny.
This relatively flat course produced many fast times and more personal bests right through the field.
There were 133 finishers with continued good representation from Westport AC and other clubs in the West.
It was great to see another big Mayo AC turnout – well done to them, and to all finishers.
It was a third consecutive series win for John Courell Ballina AC who had another inpressive win in his fastest time so far : 16:04. Two Mayo AC runners were next home – Rowland McIntyre second 16:41 closely followed by Michael Rocke in 16:43 – third successive third place in a new pb. Michael ran 17:27 the last time the race took place in 2019..
Castlebar 5k winner Norah Newcombe Pieterse Mayo AC claimed her second series win with a great run 17:40 and 7th overall.
Michelle Needham Westport AC was second in 19:14, with Maura Ginty Sportsworld AC next home in third 19:31 – her third women’s podium in the series.
