The 50th Anniversary Hollymount International Road races launch took place last week at Sean ÓGs Bar. Race founder and organiser Sean Reilly and 50th Anniversary Secretary Marie Healy welcomed guests and supporters on behalf of the committee. They’ve been very busy over recent months preparing for the big day and plans are being finalised for what will be an exciting milestone in the remarkable Hollymount story. It’s a story that’s  been ‘running’ since 13th November 1966. Marie outlined the timetable for the momentous occasion which takes place on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th November.

There is a full account of the 50th Anniversary events in the sports section of this week’s Connaught Telegraph p77. It will be a special weekend for Hollymount and a wonderful opportunity to be part of the celebrations either as a participant or to witness this unique Irish athletics milestone.  Michael McGrath (Mayo AC) has been actively involved on the committee and he’ll be giving us the story of the race winners over the fifty years and other details on these pages next week.
