Get well soon, David!
David Huane from Ballindine has had a long overdue operation carried out in the past few days. He’s gone through a tough time and has waited ages to have it done. Thankfully he’s coming along fine. First spotted in a football jersey running on the hard shoulder of the N5 near Termonbarry in the early years of the Longford Half Marathon. Afterwards he headed to Dublin – it was one of those football semi final days. He finished the Longford 2006 Half in 86:36. David has been a stalwart of the club since he joined over ten years ago. He became a regular on the road circuit and was actively involved in the club. Indeed, since he has been out of action he’s continued to contribute as a great supporter of events both as marshal and planner. He’s a great example to many and an inspiration to anyone who’s available and willing to give high vis support next Sunday in Castlebar. He’s also recognised as the driving force behind the annual charity fundraiser ‘Guess Your Own Time’ race in Ballindine. David trained hard for the marathon and hit a glory patch a couple of times – his best a 2:55.50 finish in 2008 when he sat in with a sub 3′ train’ – long before we were pampered with pacers and balloons. All of us at the club wish you well David – and a speedy recovery – we look forward to seeing you back in action soon.
