Ambrose Gaughan in action at Boylo 10k

Following up some of the results from Athlone it’s great to see the level of improvement, especially among new members.

The foot notes by the Shannon were certainly beating out a move to improve rhythm. Looking back over recent results -we don’t have a list of pbs – it’s plain to see the evidence in many cases. As always in athletics, it’s in the detail.
Regular racer Donal Tighe ran 1:42 in Ballina, 1:37.17 in Athlone. We hear he trains with Neil Carroll who improved by 3 minutes for his 1:32.33 Athlone finish. Ambrose Gaughan put his Dublin Half disappointment behind him – 8 minutes faster – and a pb 1:31.03.

Greg Barry 1:54.01 was ten minutes faster than his Dublin Half last month. W50 medal winner, Monica Joyce:1:52.23 – three minutes better. Siobhan Ruttledge 1:41.02 pb, four minutes faster than Dublin (1:45.04). Tim Ganley 1:53.25 / 1:57 in Dublin – nearly four minutes. Tim is often at the Thursday track sessions.
James Murtagh’s finish time was not listed yesterday but is now: 1:57.10  – an excellent first half marathon, and he’ll be inspired by the achievements of Tim, Greg, Monica etc.

In the John Buckley Cork 10 mile on Sunday, well done to John Fizgibbons who ran 68:34, 4th M50.
