Eight Mayo AC ran Connacht Cross-Country Leg 2 today

For the second Sunday this month, the picturesque setting of Westport House Estate became the backdrop for cross-country competition again today.

The Connacht Even Aged Championship and Senior Masters Leg 2 took place on a glorious dry sunny Sunday. Racing conditions were slightly tougher than earlier in the month due to heavy rain during the week. The course held up well, though it was sticky and tricky around some sharp turns.

Autumnal colours mixed with an array of club vests adding to the picturesque scene around the one kilometre lap course.

There was a carnival atmosphere as an orchestra of club coaches and supporters provided an excited soundtrack around the lap boundaries and short uphill finish area.

Juvenile athletes ran in a number of even aged events.

After these were completed the women’s and men’s races took place.

The women’s race + o65 men was over 4 laps – u18s and Juniors ran 5 laps.

Well done to our eight Mayo AC women who had great runs today in a competitive field:
