A couple of members competed in traditional Easter Monday events today in Sligo and Kerry.
The 15th Annual Carney Lissadell 10k took place in Carney Co Sligo near Drumcliffe. It’s a loop course which goes out from the village and along the seashore, and up hill by Lissadell estate before turning back for a nice long run in to the finish.
The winner was Seamus Somers (Sligo AC) in 33:51. He won bronze M45 in the recent National 10k. Eight of the first ten finishers were o40, not that unusual these days.
Laura Rooney was first woman home in 41.33
Brendan Murphy (Mayo AC) finished 35th overall in 44:07.
The Jack O’Keeffe 4 mile is organised by Gneeveguilla AC- one of Kerry’s largest clubs. They promote athletics in the Killarney region of the county.
The race starts in Boherbue and finishes in Kiskeam.
It’s a central location for a lot of runners in N.Cork, W.Limerick and E.Kerry.
Sergio Ciobanu (Clonliffe Harriers AC) won in 19:24, with Niamh O’Mahoney U19F (An Riocht AC) first woman across the line in 23:13.
David Dinsmore (Mayo AC) finished 43rd overall in 27:42 and second o60.
Well done to Brendan and David on their performances today.
