There was a good turnout at Curry on Saturday (June 5) for the first race in the inaugural East Mayo 5k Series. It was a very welcome opportunity for many to compete again after a long layoff due to the pandemic.
The event was well organised by the local Charlestown based club – a big thank you to Gemma, Trina and their team.
The one lap course started and finished at Curry GAA grounds and was a fair test with a few ups and downs from halfway to finish. There were runners from many different clubs in the north-west of the province among the 66 finishers – good to see a variety of singlets on display. Race winner was Ray McNamara in 17:26.
Well done to all of our eight finishers, (five in photo above plus Anto Devaney, Tom McNicholas and Tom Hunt) especially Paula Donnellan who was first woman home in 20:20
