Donna conquers Bundoran’s Dunes

The Bundoran Dune 10k  took place on Saturday (September 12) at Tullan Strand Beach in Co Donegal.

The challenging coastal endurance event sent runners through sandy shores, rugged terrain, and steep sand dunes.

Or as the race organisers said “challenge yourself by finishing in an event where sand, sea, and determination converge in the ultimate test of endurance and spirit”.

That’s what Donna Gallagher Mayo AC did –  she was the fifth woman to cross the finish line in 1:05.23 – a brilliant achievement.

Afterwards she said ” I think it was the most awful race I have ever done!
I dragged myself across the finish line with very sore hamstrings… definitely a one and done race.”

Percy Cerutty would have approved!

10k Winners were:

Alan Dunne Swinford AC 44:06, and Cliodhna McCardle 57:08
