** The Annual British and Irish Masters Cross Country International takes place this year in Belfast on Saturday November 10th. This popular masters event is contested annually by teams from Ireland England Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland . Men and Women teams [usually 4 or 5 per team ] are selected in each age category beginning at +35 then +40 and so on. If many of our Mayo A.C. members who have achieved much national success at masters level over the various age categories in road running in recent years can transfer that form to cross country it would put them a great position to be selected to represent Ireland on what is the biggest day in masters cross country running in those Islands. As outlined above the Gerry Farnan Cross Country Races in the Phoenix Park on Oct 21st acts as the Trial Race for selection of the Irish masters teams .
**The A.A.I National Inter County Cross Country Championships take place at Tattersalls, Ratoath, Co Meath on Sunday November 25th. It is hoped that Mayo will have strong Men and Women teams taking part consisting of members of Mayo A.C. members of other Mayo clubs and a number of Mayo born runners who are members of clubs outside the County. This race also acts as the Irish Trial to select teams for the European XC Championships which take place in December.
