We had our second race winner of the week-end when regular competitor Michael McNeela M40 won his second successive Annual Croí Inishbofin Half Marathon on Saturday last (18th May) – that long dark wet day. Last year Michael won the race in glorious sunshine. Castlebar based Michael, crossed the line in a time of  1:30:35, a
great win in the conditions. His winning time in 2012 was 1.30.08. Michael was a member of our M35+ team who won bronze at the National Half Marathon in Athenry last September. In real time, Michael was the first winner of
the week-end as he had finished well before John Byrne won the Ballindine 4.

Well done too to our Masters category winner Tom Waldron (Gold M70 in National Half 2012) who also competed and finished 90th in 2:32:23

In the Westport 5k on Sunday in aid of the Quay NS, Colette Tuohy W40 was our third race winner when she was first woman home in 18:39. Colette
trains on the same terrain as Michael McNeela and they regularly run sessions together, and it is obviously paying off.

Con Doherty (Westport AC)  15:42 was the race winner with 2 Rob Malseed, 3 Joe Hastings 4 Noel Gibbons.
Gerry Galvin M45 finished in 18:46.
A reminder from Gerry that  Tuesday evening training sessions in
Westport  now meet up at Lidl car park at 7pm. (for the summer season). Turn up and join in is his message.
