Cork Half, Dangan 5k, Cong 8k
TJ McHugh is one of many members who has been in fine racing form recently. The Claremorris man took the long road south on Bank Holiday Monday to defend his 2011 Cork Half Marathon title when he won in 72:51. This year he was happy with his run in warm conditions and finished 7th in 75:18. A new member, John Geraghty from Kilmeena has been busy all year racing regularly near and far. In the Cork Half, he knocked a couple of minutes off his PB and was very satisfied with a 1:44:20 finish, despite ‘heat, cramps and stitches’.
He aims to get below 100 mins before the year is out – no pressure! ( John pictured after Kilmovee 10k).Also among the thousands competing by the banks of the lovely Lee, was Patricia Carty who completed the marathon in 4:27:54.
Timmy Glavey is having having a great season and won the Roundstone 8k recently. He has been finishing well in the Galway 5k series too, 3rd and 7th in previous races. At Dangan last Tuesday in the fifth race, he had a fine win in 16:49. Likewise Colette Tuohy, who ran a 5k pb 18:29 winning the Loughrea 5k, finished first in Dangan in 18.40.
