The final leg of Connacht Cross Country League took place at Belleek near Ballina on Sunday. It was well organised by local club Moy Valley AC.
Senior, masters and novice runners from clubs in Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo, Galway, Leitrim and Longford competed in two races – 4k for women and men o65, and 8k for men.
A lap of the well established course is about 1k and includes some gentle ups downs and a couple of short sharp hills.
Conditions were tough after some heavy showers and earlier races on a cold and and breezy afternoon. We had nine runners in action – most of them had competed in at least one of the two previous league events at Loughrea and Sligo.
Colette Tuohy 6th, Norah Newcombe 7th, Pauline Moran 12th , Angela O’Connor 16th , Tom Hunt 25th and Angela McVann 37th ran in the first race over four laps (4.1k) with 46 finishers.
Padraic McVann 42nd Brendan Murphy 44th and Jimmy Feeney 47th competed in the second race over eight laps with 48 finishers.
Well done to all our competitors today.
Results of today’s Belleek races have been added.
