Colette 13th in Dublin Women’s Mini-marathon

The sudden surge in temperatures meant that thousands of participants in the annual 10k event were not conditioned for the heat on the streets of Dublin. The max at Dublin airport yesterday was 18.4 according to Met Eireann. Siobhan O’’Doherty ( Borrisokane AC) was the winner – third time lucky as she was 2nd in last two years. She set her best time of 34:20 for the event, improving on the 35:09 she ran last year, and the 35:31 in 2011. She also held off several strong contenders, with Dublin’s Fiona Roche battling hard until the last 3km, when O’Doherty made the decisive break. Roche held on for second in 34:43, with Maria McCambridge of Dundrum South Dublin third in 35:00. Well done to Colette Tuohy who was on the front  of the start-line once again and she finished 13th in 38:52. Her best finish was 11th in 2011.  Dublin based Paula Prendergast ran 40:39 to finish 26th . Results are at
