Our club vest is provided by Ron Hill Sports. Ron Hill is an inspirational figure in athletics and this story adds to that as he approaches his 80th year.
In 1970 Ron Hill was the first ever Britain to win the Boston Marathon, in 2hrs 10mins 30. He also won gold at the Commonwealth Games recording a time of 2hrs 9mins 28.
Ron Hill set up Ron Hill Sports in September 1970.
Although the company was sold some years ago Ron Hill was made Brand Ambassador in 2010.
Today the athletics world mourns the passing of a significant sporting icon – Roger Bannister who died on Saturday aged 88.
