Mayo AC Club League Tables updated after two events:
1 Streets of Galway 8k -Out of County Event held last Saturday, August 6.
Nine club members ran in this popular race which had 2,906 finishers, 30% of them in under 40 minutes.
Conditions were windy, especially around the Cathedral and by UCHG, but there was a boost for the field when it was on the backs of runners as they turned at Salthill and on to the finish at the Claddagh basin.
Club League tables have been updated with bonus points, but note Rule 8 (e) applies : “Members will receive a 10 point bonus by participating in ONE of the two Out of County events (Headford 8k, Streets of Galway 8k).
Congratulations to Trisha Carty who achieved a pb and received 20 bonus points. And thanks to her for feedback from the Streets race and compiling the tables from Galway and Dublin race results.
2 National Half Marathon, Sunday August 7
Ten of our nineteen women runners gained points, with Maria Kneafsey and Helen Hopkins adding bonus points for their PBs. Well done both.
After these two updates Angela McVann is still a clear women’s table topper ahead of Ann Marie Clarke. Maria Kneafsey’s 30 points enables her to jump up to third just two points ahead of Kathleen Kennedy. Trisha Carty’s points in Galway lifts her seven places to seventh in table.
Seven of our twelve men finishers achieved points. Brendan Murphy is still way out in front, followed by Keith Holland and Sean Murphy.
As with the Out of County events, if members had already completed the National 10k they don’t receive bonus points for the National Half Marathon .
The next Club League races are Target events – the County 10k championships at Killasser on Wednesday August 17 over a one lap loop course, and the Claremorris Sport a Smile 8k on Sunday August 28 over a newly measured course starting and finishing at the track.
