Charlestown 10k, 6th Sept, 12 noon
The 3rd Annual Charlestown 10k takes place on Saturday next 6th September and will be the first big race of the month in the West. It is the fourth race in Mayo AC’s 2014 Move2Improve Series and another opportunity to gain points at all three levels. Charlestown is an excellent location on N5/N17 and easily accessible from all points in the province. The local organisers are hoping for a big turnout and all are welcome to come and run, jog or walk.
Start time: 12 noon for joggers/runners. There is an earlier start time for walkers this year at 11.30am. Course records are held by John Byrne (Mayo AC) 2013 winner in 32:32 who will be hoping to retain his title, and Breege Connolly (Nth Belfast) who ran 36:03 in 2012 and was first woman home in the recent Warriors Run.
Chip timing for all participants, ample off road parking, changing available. Entry is 20 euro at www.runireland.com.
You can also register on the morning of the race at the CBD race HQ from 9.30 from 11.00.
Refreshments afterwards in the Complex and prizegiving will follow.
The course is AAI measured and permitted and the first and the final kilometre goes through the town, while the remaining 8k rural loop is mainly flat and is ideal for those looking for fast times and pbs. The start is outside St Attracta’s NS in Lowpark and race finish is just outside CBD complex and GAA grounds.
