Céide results
The Céide Fields 10k and half marathon took place today as rain slowly, heavily, and persistently swept over the West.
Michael Canty (Moy Valley AC) was first home in the 10k in 39:06 a time reflecting the day and terrain. Congratulations to Donna Gallagher (Mayo AC) who won the women’s race in 47:27 and 10th overall of 79 finishers. Bernice McCartan was our only other finisher there in a creditable 58:19. Apologies for missing Donna’s achievement in earlier post.
The half marathon was won in 1:24.29 by John Brennan. Eamonn Joyce led Mayo AC home in an excellent second place in 1:26.26 – hopefully he has reserves of endurance for two week’s time. Well done to our other finishers: Tom McLoughlin 1:37.31, Stephen Skillington 1:44.13, Ambrose Gaughan 1:44.37, Donal Tighe 1:45.48, Eugene McCartan 1:51.53 . 113 finishers in half.
The main provincial focus was the first leg of the Connacht Cross Country League at Bushfield near Loughrea. We had nine of the twelve who ran last week at Swinford in competitive action – three in 8k and six in 4k – in the two senior races. We’ll update separately with details when results are published
