The AAI Intermediate Cross Country championships hosted by Galway Athletics and Tuam AC were held on Sunday afternoon in the Palace Grounds, Tuam. It was good to see twelve members compete again in a National cross country competition. Our women’s team were led home to Club and County bronze medals by Catherine Conway – a great achievement, well done to all. Our other finishers were Angela O’Connor 17th, Noreen McManamon 30th, Mags Glavey 36th and Anne Murray 39th. There were 53 in the field. Sportsworld AC were the club team winners.
John Byrne was our first man home in the men’s race over 8k in 18th place. Timmie Glavey (35), Anto Devaney (56) Dwayne Flynn (63) made up the rest of our team who finished 7th with 172 points behind winners Clonliffe Harriers.
