Brilliant 4th place for John Gordon in Longford Marathon

Longford Marathon: Darren Flanagan and John Gordon

John Gordon Mayo AC ran a brilliant 2:54.14 for 4th place in today’s 19th  Longford Marathon. Just behind in 12th was clubmate/newcomer Darren Flanagan in 3:03.00.

John’s finish time today was a pb beating his 2:55.18 time in Dublin Marathon in 2019.
He says “conditions were good for pbs – a little drizzle and no wind, with great support from spectators”.

The top 5 finishers won prizes today.

Both John and Darren  ran in the Clogher Marathon last October when  John won the men’s race in an excellent time 2:58.46 and Darren ran 3:15.51.
 John also won the O’Dubhda October Marathon in Enniscrone in both 2019 2:59 and 2020 3:04.
Longford Marathon winner today was Matthew Collins Portmarnock AC who ‘posted’ 2:35.36, with Carmel Ward first woman in 3:08.44.
Matthew Collins secured the Guinness World record for the fastest marathon dressed as a post box (men) with a time of 3:14:32 in London 2019, smashing the previous best by 26 minutes.
