Breaffy 10k. Oct 6th, 1.30pm
The 3rd Annual Breaffy 10k takes place Sunday the 6th October 2013. It is also the final race in this year’s Mayo AC Road League. The event is being organized by Breaffy Community/ Breaffy G.A.A & Mayo Roscommon Hospice.
This community inspired event is aimed at runners and walkers of all abilities and levels of fitness The course record for men set by Michael Canty (Ballina AC) in 2012 is 33.24 and 41.10, set by our one and only Angela O’Connor in 2011.
Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd Men & Women, also 1st Man and Woman O45 & U18.
Prizes for the 2013 Road League will also be presented
The predominantly flat course starts behind the National School in the village and extends in a loop along mainly picturesque country roads to finish at the front of the school.
There are toilet facilities at the start/finish line and there is plenty of parking in the village, at the Church, GAA Grounds or in Breaffy House Resort – all within easy walking distance of the start. Water Stations will be at the 3k and 7k on the course. After the event everyone can relax over a cup of tea and refreshments in the School Hall. Runners and walkers, men and women, are all welcome.
The Course has been officially measured and certified to AAI standards and a permit issued by Athletics Ireland.
