Sinéad Diver and her Australian Flame team-mates have begun to arrive in host city Beijing ahead of the 15th IAAF World Track and Field Championships.
We’re proud of our Belmullet native and Mayo AC member’s participation – we’ve charted her amazing athletics journey over recent months.
All events take place at the famous Bird’s Nest National Stadium, from Saturday 22nd Aug – Sunday 30 Aug.
She runs in the women’s marathon final on day 9, Sunday 30th at 00:30 Irish time (seven hours behind Beijing). Sinéad has done all the hard work to get ready for this formidable test. Beijing has an average August high temperature of 30.4c and 74% humidity, so she has been preparing in a heat acclimatising chamber, sorting out hydration needs and completing those long runs.
We wish Sinéad the best of luck – 祝您好运北京，西尼德！ Zhù nín hǎo yùn běijīng!
