Anto Devaney a 2:59.50 finish in Limerick

A few members headed South, North and over the border on a busy Bank Holiday week-end. On Saturday Anto Devaney took part in the Great Limerick Run – three races: marathon, half, 6 mile. He had been training and running races weekly in preparation, with a few 36 minute 10ks in the legs. Anto hit halfway in 1:24.34 amd maintained that pace to 30k at 2:01.36. He had women’s race winner Pauline Curley for company and was well on schedule for something around 2:52. His pace slipped away in the next few miles and Anto was just happy to make a sub 3 – 2:59.50. Pauline Curley (Tullamore Harriers) went on finish in 2:48.

John Geraghty ran the Belfast marathon and had hopes of a 3:48 but made it home 4:05.14, a similar time to Rome back in March.

Ballyhaunis based members went a few miles up the road to Loughglynn on Sunday where Justin McDonagh ran 53 mins in the 10k. In the 5k Philip McGoldrick  22.39, and 6th overall, and Barbara Serafin ran 28:04.

Well done to all our weekenders
