Saturday March  31, 2018: 9th Annual Kilmovee 10k in aid of Mayo Roscommon Hospice and Kilmovee Shamrocks GAA. It was the second event in the 2018 Vodafone C&C Cellular Mayo AC Club League, and points achieved by over thirty club members who competed will be added to tables and published soon.

Congratulations to all finishers, especially the prizewinners, and well done to all Mayo AC finishers.

It was another thoroughly well organised event by the dynamic Kilmovee 10k committee led by John Roddy – a real community effort.  Conditions were a sunny 10°C and dry for the 406 runners and walkers on this flat course which has one uphill section in the final kilometre at Kilcashel.

The race winner was Ray Hynes (Donore Harriers) in 33:05 just over a minute outside the course record of 32:00 set last year by Gary Thornton (GCH) 32:00. He was just over 20 seconds ahead of Paddy O’Toole (Westport AC) in second place with John Byrne (Mayo AC) third in 33:39. The first woman finisher was Sara Doohan (Corran AC) in 38:00 – like Ray Hynes it was her first time competing in Kilmovee.
