12-15 May Results
We continued our recent impressive run of podium positions in
two local races on Saturday.
At Rosses Point in the 8k, 3rd race in the Sligo Road League, Catherine
Conway made a winning return to racing but had only 3 seconds to spare
in a close finish with Aisling van Rensburg (Nth Sligo AC). Pauline Moran
was 4th and 1st o50 in an impressive 33.34 to continue her brilliant
season.
TJ McHugh has not wasted all that marathon training since his
disappointment in Rotterdam last month, as he ran a fast 26:51 for
third place in the men’s race, to add to his 6 mile 33:13 in Limerick
last week.
In the Ballina Half Marathon John Byrne finished second in the men’s
race, still in the recovery phase just three weeks after the World 100k in Italy. Sarah Syron matched
his performance with 2nd place in the women’s section. They all look to be in great shape for the Balla 8k – at the new time of 12 noon on Saturday.
